Fruit and Vegetable Exports Forecast to Grow Positively in Q3

ANTD.VN – Fruit and vegetables are among Vietnam’s key export products. Exports are forecast to maintain positive growth momentum in the third quarter.

Durian Contributes More Than US$1 Billion to Fruit and Vegetable Export Turnover in the First Months of 2026 According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, fruit production continued to grow in the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, thanks to an expansion in harvested areas and favorable weather conditions. Most major fruit crops recorded higher output, helping ensure sufficient supply for both domestic consumption and export. Meanwhile, fruit and vegetable exports reached US$3.7 billion in the first six months of 2026, representing an increase of 19.4% compared with the same period last year. Durian continued to be a key export product, with export turnover reaching US$520.8 million in June, up 104.1% month-on-month and 17.6% year-on-year. In the first half of 2026, durian export turnover exceeded US$1.06 billion, up 26.4% year-on-year and accounting for 46% of Vietnam’s total fresh fruit export turnover. China remained the largest market for Vietnamese durian, with export value reaching US$970 million, up 37.7% year-on-year and accounting for 91% of total durian exports. Other markets included Taiwan, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea. After durian, bananas and dragon fruit ranked second and third in terms of export value. China is currently Vietnam’s largest export market for fruit and vegetables. In the first six months of the year, exports to China reached US$2 billion, up 24.7% year-on-year and accounting for 55% of Vietnam’s total fruit and vegetable export turnover. The positive growth in the Chinese market has mainly been driven by strong demand for tropical fruits, particularly durian, dragon fruit, bananas, fresh coconuts and mangoes. Meanwhile, exports to other major markets, including the United States, South Korea and the European Union, also recorded relatively strong growth. Positive Outlook for Q3 In the third quarter, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports are forecast to maintain positive growth momentum, creating a solid foundation for the sector to achieve an annual export turnover of approximately US$9.5–10 billion in 2026, an increase of 11.8–17.6% compared with 2025. The main growth drivers are expected to come from the recovery in import demand in key markets such as China, the United States, the European Union, Japan and South Korea. In addition, India officially opened its market to fresh Vietnamese durian on July 13, 2026, with more favorable quarantine requirements. This is expected to create additional room for export growth while helping Vietnam diversify its export markets.
